SPORTS: Arsenal 4-1 Galatasaray: Welbeck Hits Hat-Trick as Gunners Crush Gala

Arsenal ran riot against Galatasaray in the Champions League tonight, with striker Danny Welbeck scoring a hat trick for the Gunners. The hosts were on top from the start, and took the lead in the 22nd minute, Danny Welbeck poked home from close range, with Alexis Sanchez grabbing the assist. Less than 10 minutes later, Welbeck grabbed his second of the game. The England international finished well inside the area, curling a low effort past Fernando Muslera in the Gala goal after muscling off Felipe Melo when a loose ball bounced towards goal. Minutes before half-time, Alexis Sanchez made it 3-0, cleverly cutting inside with the ball to finish low past Muslera. After the break, it was Arsenal continuing their dominance. In the 52nd minute, Danny Welbeck got the hat trick his performance deserved. The former Manchester United man chipped over Muslera to score his third and Arsenal’s fourth goal with plenty of time remaining. But Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny gave away a needless penalty and was sent off for his troubles too. Burak Yilmaz scored the resulting spot-kick in the 63rd minute to make it 4-1, but Galatasaray didn’t come close to an upset throughout. The result means Arsenal finally get off the mark, and manager Arsene Wenger caps his 18 years at Arsenal with a European victory.
