Spanish Football Awards: Ronaldo Beats Lionel Messi To Win Three Awards In LFP Awards
Cristiano Ronaldo carted away the top awards
at the La Liga player awards on Monday, with
Messi not winning any in all categories. Real
Madrid as well dominated the night woth
Modric, Keylor Navas and Sergio Ramos
winning the awards in their category.
Last year Portuguese international Cristiano
Ronaldo beat Argentine forward to win the
2013 FIFA Ballon D’Or award for a record
second time
The 29 year-old who is also nominated for the
2014 Ballon D’Or award again beat stripper Lionel
Messi at the Spanish football awards held on
Monday
Ronaldo was named the best Player In La Liga
and Best Forward in the league last season
Ronaldo’s ‘Mule Kick’ goal against Valencia also
won the Best Goal of the Season just as Real
Madrid teammates, Luka Modric won the Best
Defensive Midfielder award, while Sergio
Ramos was voted the Best Defender of the
season
Atletico Madrid coach, Diego Simeone won the
Best Coach award, and he is the one from the
2013 La Liga winning Atletico Madrid team that
was honoured at the night
Granada’s Algerian Yacine Brahimi won the Best
African Player award, with Carlos Bacca of
Sevilla awarded the Best South American Player.
''I have to thank my team-mates, Real Madrid,
my family... it is a very good moment in my
career,' Ronaldo, also named best forward of
the season, said at the ceremony in Madrid.
''For me, the important thing is to win
collective prizes, but I like the individual ones,
too. I work every day, in training, to continue
adding more to this,'' Ronaldo said after at the
award night
Ronaldo has set the pace for the race next year
when the winner of the FIFA Ballon D'Or will be
announced in Zurich on January 15
