Boko Haram: "24 Terrorists Killed" In Gun Battle With Troops

The insurgents were involved in a shootout with troops of the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and the officers were said to have had the upper hand. At least 24 Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly died in a battle with Nigerian troops which took place in Abadam, Borno State. The insurgents were involved in a shootout with troops of the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and the officers were said to have had the upper hand. Witnesses and security sources said that the battle began in a bid for the military to recover the town which had fallen under the control of Boko Haram last week, Leadership reports. A senior security source reportedly said that at least two dozen (24) corpses of terrorist fighters were scattered around Abadam after the clash. The source added: “…we have triumphed against the terrorists and more progress is being made towards liberating towns and villages; I can guarantee you that Abadam is now secured”. A resident of the town, Aliyu Goni is also said to have confirmed the conquest saying: “I saw many dead bodies as we were returning back to Abadam after the soldiers encouraged us to go back home. There were many corpses of the Boko Haram members in Arge ward where the leader of the Boko Haram that led the insurgents into Abadam was seen issuing orders” The Federal Government and Boko Haram reportedly agreed to a ceasefire on October 17 but violence between both sides has continued.
