Nigerian Girl Banned Over Ebola In US Returns To School

Ikeoluwa Opayemi was told to stay home for 21 days by authorities at the Meadowville Elementary School in Milford, Connecticut after she made a trip to Nigeria causing anxiety that she could spread Ebola. A 7-year-old Nigerian girl who was banned from a US school over Ebola fears has been allowed to return. Ikeoluwa Opayemi was told to stay home for 21 days by authorities at the Meadowville Elementary School in Milford, Connecticut after she made a trip to Nigeria causing anxiety that she could spread the disease. The situation led to her father, Samuel filing a lawsuit in a federal court stating that Ikeoluwa posed no risk as she had not gotten in contact with any Ebola patients so she should be allowed back in school. The Milford school district has issued a statement saying that the young girl will be permitted to resume her third grade class on Friday, October 31. It reads: "The student has had no contact with any Ebola patients and she does not have Ebola," "The student does not present any health risk to any individual." Ikeoluwa was previously told to stay home till November 3 after completing the usual observation period for the disease. Nigeria was declared Ebola-free on October 20, 2014 after recording 20 cases of the disease and eight deaths.
