Ebola Update: Scientists Create Machine To Test For Virus In 30 Minutes
The radical new sensor is said to be the size of
a shoebox and can also be operated by anyone
for use in detecting the Ebola virus.
Scientists at the Boston University have created
a new gadget that can reportedly detect Ebola in
blood samples within 30 minutes.
The radical new sensor is said to be the size of a
shoe box and can also be operated by anyone.
The inventors are seeking to have the machine
shipped to West Africa to help efforts against the
spread of Ebola.
The gadget is said to work by reflecting light, and
has reportedly been shown to be effective in
spotting the Ebola virus.
Researchers say that a major challenge in the
fight against Ebola is the cost and difficulty of
diagnosing the disease.
Ebola has killed almost 5000 people in West Africa
with Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea being the
worst hit.
