General’s Sister, Granddaughter Assassinated In Kebbi
Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Ishaya
Bamaiyi has lost his sister and her
granddaughter after they were allegedly
assassinated in Kebbi
The family of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen.
Ishaya Bamaiyi has been stricken with grief after
the alleged assassination of the general’s older
sister, Saratu and her granddaughter.
The incident is believed to have occurred between
3p.m. and 4p.m. yesterday October 5 at the
residence of the deceased in the Zuru Local
Government Area of Kebbi state.
The victims were hit on the head with a pestle and
their bodies dumped in a well, ThisDay reports.
The deaths were reportedly confirmed to
journalists by the State Commissioner of Police,
Mr. Ishaku Bariu in Birnin Kebbi, the state
capital.
He said:
"We have beefed up security with foot,
motorcycle and vehicle patrol. People are going
about their lawful businesses as investigation into
the unfortunate killing of Mama and her
granddaughter continues,"
"She and her granddaughter were murdered and
then dragged into the well inside the compound. I
don't think it was by the use of gun. They used a
pestle to attack them.”
The commissioner also added that assassination
was suspected because the deceased had money
in her home but it was left untouched by the
attackers.
