Ebola Outbreak: Africa's Richest Man, Dangote To Assist Liberia In Fight Against Disease
The richest man in Africa, Alhaji Aliko Dangote
has expressed his desire to assist efforts
against Ebola in Liberia, an Executive Mansion
press release has revealed.
Nigerian billionaire, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has
committed himself to the fight against Ebola in
Liberia, an Executive Mansion press release
states.
Africa’s richest man is said to have promised,
while speaking to Liberian President, Ellen
Johnson Sirleaf on Friday, October 17, to assist
the nation with resources to aid it in curbing the
spread of the disease.
The press statement reads:
Africa's richest man, billionaire Alhaji Aliko
Dangote, has expressed his preparedness to
assist Liberia in the fight against the Ebola virus
disease.
An Executive Mansion release said Alhaji Dangote,
in a telephone conversation with President Ellen
Johnson Sirleaf last Friday, volunteered to assist
the country with medical personnel and other
human and material resources.
He promised that the Dangote Foundation would
work with the Liberian leader’s office to
determine what assistance can be provided,
including support to professional healthcare
workers.
President Sirleaf thanked Alhaji Dangote for the
promised assistance and praised the Nigerian
businessman for reaching out to the government
and people of Liberia at this critical time.
This assistance will go a long way to help rebuild
the country’s healthcare system with highly
skilled medical doctors and healthcare personnel
during this critical period and beyond the Ebola
virus disease, said President Sirleaf.
Mr. Dangote is ranked by Forbes Magazine as the
43rd richest person in the world, and the richest
man in Africa.
President Sirleaf recently wrote a touching letter
to the world asking for help to put an end to the
Ebola outbreak in Liberia.
