Teacher Gets Life Sentence, 8 Years After Raping 11-Year-Old Pupil

He raped his pupil in 2007 and now justice has come knocking in the form of a life jail term. Bright Asiruwa, a 35-year-old teacher, will be spending the rest of his life behind bars after an Edo court found him guilty of defiling an 11-year- old pupil. Justice G. O. Imadegbelo of an Edo State High Court sitting in Benin City found Asiruwa guilty of rape and sentenced him to life imprisonment, The Nation reports. Student Pulse gathered that the convict committed the crime in 2007, as a teacher of Osazuwa Primary School, Ehor, Edo State. His victim, who is now 19-years-old, was his student. Speaking after the judgement was pronounced, an elder brother to the victim said justice has been duly served.
