Sex And Fertility 4 Shocking Things You Need To Know About Sperm
Here are some things you might want to know
about men, sperm and fertility.
Most times, we are more concerned about female
fertility than male fertility.
In African settings especially, all fertility problems
are often assumed to be the fault of the female
partner in a relationship.
We however know that men are oftentimes the
cause of infertility, or a woman's inability to get
pregnant.
Here are some things you might want to know
about men, sperm and fertility:
. -Smoking is bad for fertility. Cigarettes are
sperm killers, and same goes for weed
(marijuana) because when the chemical THC
gets into the body’s fat stores, it can cause
hormonal disruption and abnormally shaped
sperm.
. -Vegetarians may have poorer sperm. Many
health benefits have been attributed to
vegetarianism but a research has found that
men who do not eat meat have significantly
reduced sperm counts. According to the
research, only one third of vegetarians' sperm is
active, whereas sixty percent of a meat eater’s
sperm is active. Do the maths.
. -STD’s cause fertility problems. When a man
gets a sexually transmitted disease like
chlamydia or gonorrhea, he is at risk of
infertility problems. Untreated STDs can cause
inflammation and blockages of the vas
deferens. So get screened regularly.
. -Laptop heat can kill the sperm. Placing a
laptop on your laps is not good because heat
from the eat from a laptop will decrease sperm
count.
