BUSTED: NSCDC Nabs Suspected Baby Factory Operator In Imo State

A 52-year-old woman, Mrs. Esther Akunmade has been arrested by men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp for allegedly running a baby factor in Imo State. Addressing newsmen in the Imo State, Deputy Commandant Ade Micheal revealed that the suspected baby factory operator was arrested after they received a tip from some of members of the Umutueke Community where the alleged baby factory was being run. The suspect in custody, however denied the allegations, revealing that she was running an unregistered maternity home which started about a year ago. Mr. Ade Micheal revealed that after a raid by men of the NSCDC, four women and two one-week old babies were found in the supposed maternity house. The NSCDC boss also alleged that the woman bribed his men with N100,000 which they collected but presented before newsmen. When she was questioned by news men, Mrs. Akunmade, who claims to be a retired nurse admitted to offering the bribe of N100, 000 to the officials of NSDC. She claimed to have offered the money so she should be left alone. One of the young girls who were found at the scene revealed that she was brought to the supposed maternity home by her mother for treatment.
