Insanity: 32-year-old man rapes physically challenged woman
For raping a mentally challenged woman, a 32-year-old man would spend his Christmas behind bars:
32-year-old Saheed Egbeleye, will be ruing his insatiable sexual lust that led him to raping a physically challenged woman in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, as he has been remanded in prison custody by a Chief Magistrates’ Court where he will be a resident till the 13th of February, 2015, when his case would be heard.
According to reports, Egbeleye lured the 21-year-old woman who is suffering from a rare disease called mongoloid - a term used for a mentally retarded person with a combination of Down Syndrome Disease - into his room and raped her before he was caught in the act.
The police prosecutor handling the case, Inspector Sunday Eigbejiale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on 29th November, 2015, at Ilawo Compound , Adedotun in Abeokuta.
Inspector Eigbejiale told the court that the offence contravened Sections 357 and 358 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006, and that the suspect should not be granted bail.
Magistrate Anthony Araba therefore ordered that the accused be remanded in the Ibara Prison, in the state capital while awaiting Director of Public Prosecution’s advice.
