Lagos appoints Njokanma as LASU acting VC

The Lagos State Government has appointed Prof. Fidelis Njokanma as the acting Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Ojo. The Deputy Governor of the state, Dr.Oluranti Adebule, made this known in a letter to the Registrar of the university, Mr. Lewis Akinwunmi. Njokanma, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), takes over from Prof. John Obafunwa, whose tenure ended last October 31. A statement obtained by our correspondent on Friday noted that Njokanma, a professor of Medicine, would act as the helmsman of the institution pending the appointment of a substantive vice-chancellor. The statement added that the governing council of the university, led by Prof. Adebayo Ninalowo, a professor of Sociology at the University of Lagos, recommended the appointment of Njokanma.
