DSS arrests high-profile Boko Haram suspect
The Department of State Services has arrested another high-profile terror suspect declared wanted by the Nigerian Army penultimate week. The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in an electronic mail on Saturday that the terror suspect identified as Danladi Abdulahi, was arrested by the DSS at the Moduganari area of the Maiduguri metropolis. Usman said the suspect, who was being interrogated by the security operatives, was number 26 in the list of 100 most wanted Boko Haram members released by the Army authorities. He quoted the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai, as having made a personal commendation of the DSS on the arrest of the suspect. The Army Chief hailed the DSS as a dependable ally in the campaign against insurgency and insecurity in the country. He said, “Following the release of the poster containing photographs of 100 suspected Boko Haram terrorists, security agencies and the public have intensified the search for them. “The renewed zeal has been yielding the desired result as the Borno State Command of the DSS has this morning, arrested another suspected high-profile Boko Haram terrorist, Danladi Abdullahi, at Moduganari area of Maiduguri metropolis. “Although he is still being investigated, it has been positively established that he is suspect number 26 on the list of the declared suspected Boko Haram terrorists issued by the Nigerian Army last month. “The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, personally wishes to commend the DSS especially Borno State Command, for this singular act, resilience and continued support and cooperation in the fight against terrorism and insurgency. “The DSS has over time proven to be dependable and partners in the quest for a secured Nigeria,’ he said. He called on the members of the public to give necessary support to the security agencies in the fight against insurgency, which he described as a collective responsibility. Usman also urged the citizenry to be vigilant and security conscious to aid the efforts against the insurgents.
