Bola Tinubu: ‘Oba of Lagos not our spokesperson,’ APC leader says

Tinubu stated this in light of recent anti-Igbo comments made by the monarch which attracted controversy nationwide. The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has said that the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu has no authority to speak for the party. Tinubu stated this in light of recent anti-Igbo comments made by the monarch which attracted controversy nationwide. The APC leader also stated that he was the first Yoruba governor to ever appoint an Igbo commissioner. Tinubu made the statements on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 during an APC rally in the Iganmu area of the state. “The Oba is not a politician. His job is to accommodate all political parties, whether PDP, APC or SDP,” the APC leader said. “To you Igbos, don’t we pay your children’s school fees like others? Or is it the palace that pays for it?” Tinubu asked. Oba Akiolu had warned the Igbos, during a meeting at his palace on Sunday, April 5, to either vote for APC governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode or prepare to die in the Lagoon
