EPL: Pogba’s agent sets date to decide player’s future at Manchester United

Paul Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, is set to hold showdown talks with Manchester United in November.
The France midfielder’s relationship with Jose Mourinho has broken down significantly in recent months and tensions have risen between the pair once again this week.
Following United’s draw with Wolves, the manager stripped Pogba of the vice-captaincy and Sky Sports’ cameras captured a tense exchange between both men at the club’s training ground on Wednesday morning.
The Red Devils were determined to keep hold of Pogba during the summer transfer window amid interest from Barcelona, but the club are now increasingly resigned to losing the World Cup winner.
According to The Guardian, Raiola wants to meet United in November, to discuss whether Pogba will be allowed to leave in January or next summer.
Raiola will wait until November, in case Mourinho is sacked in the next few weeks.
Pogba is tied into a deal at Old Trafford until the summer of 2021.

EPL: Hazard speaks on being compared with Messi, Ronaldo

Chelsea forward, Eden Hazard, has admitted it feels good to hear that he’s among the world’s very best players, SportsMail reports.
However, Hazard insisted he is more concerned with trying to win silverware, than achieve any specific goal tally.
The Belgium captain has been in fine form for Chelsea this season; scoring five times in their opening six Premier League matches.
He also netted a stunning late winner in Wednesday’s 2-1 Carabao Cup third round victory at Liverpool.
Chelsea assistant boss Gianfranco Zola said that goal, which Hazard has described as “special”, proves the 27-year-old is one of the world’s finest players.
When Blues midfielder, Ross Barkley was recently asked about Hazard and the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, he said he believed his team-mate was currently the best in the world.
When he was asked how he felt about comments like that, Hazard said: “It is good. I try to do what I can do when I am on the pitch. I am the same player as two years ago, three years ago.
“At the moment, I am just scoring goals, so that is why everyone is talking for me to be in the top three. It is a pleasure to be there. I just want to keep going.”

2019: What God showed me concerning Nigeria, another civil war – Olumba Olumba

Founder of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, BCS, Olumba Olumba Obu, has revealed what God showed him concerning Nigeria and another civil war in the country.

Olumba, who spoke in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa, ahead of the centenary celebration of manifestation of the order, Olumba Obu, said God told him there will not be another civil war in the country.

He said the centenary torch which would be lighted in Yenagoa would herald peace, prosperity and development to Bayelsa State.
He said that when the torch was lighted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State it halted the bloodletting that would have occurred during the local government elections.

“The plan of God as far as Nigeria is concerned is a mystery only known to him. I cannot tell you whether there would be crisis or not or whether Nigerians would kill themselves.
“One thing that he, however, made clear is that Nigeria would not experience a Civil War.

“During the Orkar Coup, he said that was going to be the last military coup in Nigeria and that there would never be a successful coup in Nigeria.

“He told us to go to Port Harcourt; Rivers State to light the torch and that there would be no crisis.

“On the 2019, our father is not a pastor, a general overseer or prophet who starts predicting what would happen or who would win.

“What is going to be come of Nigeria in 2019 is best known to God and he has not made it known to any of us.”

APC disqualifies another Buhari’s minister, Mama Taraba from governorship primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified another minister in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet from participating in the forthcoming governorship primaries of the party.

The Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, also known as Mama Taraba, was disqualified from seeking to govern Taraba State on the platform of the APC by the screening committee of the party, NAN reports.

DAILY POST noted this on the list released by spokesperson of the APC, Yekini Nabena, which contained the names of all aspirants cleared to participate in the primary election slated for this Saturday.

Unlike the disqualification of the Minister of Communications, Adebayo
Shittu, who was denied clearance on the grounds that he did participate on the mandatory NYSC service program, Mama Taraba’s case was different.
No reason was given by the screening committee for the failure to clear Mrs Alhassan.

However, it is believed in some quarters that her disqualification was not unconnected to the video that trended last year, which showed Mama Taraba pledging her loyalty to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in any case he decides to contest the 2019 presidency against incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari.

Abubakar was in the APC before defecting to the opposition PDP and is one of the presidential aspirants in the party.

The leadership of the party had also recently replaced members of the State Working Committee of Taraba State with a new caretaker committee.

Most of those removed were loyal to Mrs Alhassan, who was the party’s governorship flag bearer in 2015.

Osun rerun: INEC declares APC candidate, Oyetola winner

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday morning declared Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, APC, winner of the Osun State governorship election.

The State Returning Officer of the contest, Prof. Joseph Adeola Afuwape, made the declaration after reeling out scores of all the 48 candidates that participated in the election one after the other.

He said, “Oyetola, having satisfied the provision of law, by polling the highest votes in the contest is now declared winner of the gubernatorial election held on September 22, 27 in Osun State.

DAILY POST earlier reported that the APC had won the supplementary election held on Thursday in six polling units out of the seven units in which election was conducted across four local governments of Orolu, Ife South, Ife North, and Osogbo.

In a swift reaction, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, described the supplementary election as a broad day robbery and the most brazen assault on democracy in the history of the state.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Chairman of the party, Hon. Soji Adagunodo, the copy which was made available to newsmen in Osogbo.

Adagunodo accused the ruling APC of conniving with security personnel to manipulate the electoral process, vowed to resist it in due course.

He explained that thousands of eligible voters were chased away from their homes in Orolu, Ife North and Ife South Local Governments in the early hours of Thursday .

“Scores of our supporters in those local governments were shot and matchetted on their way to polling centres and in the full glare of security men. Hundreds of people holding PVCs from other polling units were accredited and allowed to vote in Osogbo and Ife South Local Governments.

” PDP agent in Olode was axed and abducted at about 7am today. Media men and election observers were denied access in several polling units. By the time access was granted to journalists at about 11am, ballot boxes had been stuffed by APC agents acting in connivance with INEC officials.

“It is regrettable that election in 7 polling units could not be freely and fairly concluded by the Independent National Electoral commission.

“We reject any returns of results from this sham and call on the INEC authorities in Abuja to direct that the so called supplementary election result collation be put on hold now.

“We equally invite leaders of thought in Nigeria and the International community to rise up now to rescue Nigeria’s democracy from being ruined.

“We also call on all members and supporters of our party to resist any attempt to foist a concocted election results on the people of Osun using all legal means at their disposal”.

Indian government legalises adultery

India’s Supreme Court ruled on Thursday, declaring a colonial-era law that punished the offence with jail time unconstitutional and discriminatory against women, making adultery legal in India.
The more than century-old law prescribed that any man who slept with a married woman without her husband’s permission had committed adultery, a crime carrying a five-year prison term in the conservative country.
A petitioner had challenged the court to strike down the law, describing it as arbitrary and discriminatory against women.
“Thinking of adultery from a point of view of criminality is a retrograde step,” unanimously declared the five-judge bench of the Supreme Court.
Women could not file a complaint under the archaic law nor be held liable for adultery themselves, making it solely the realm of men.
The court said it deprived women of dignity and individual choice and “gives license to the husband to use women as a chattel”.
“It disregards the s3xual autonomy which every woman possesses and denies agency to a woman in a matrimonial tie,” said Supreme Court Justice D. Y. ChChandrachud

"She is subjugated to the will of her spouse."

It was the second time this month the court overturned Victorian-era laws governing the s3xual choices of India’s 1.25 billion citizens.
Earlier this month, the court struck a ban on gay s3x introduced by British rulers in 1861.
The bench argued that Section 377 had become “a weapon for harassment” of homos3xuals and “history owes an apology to the members of this community and their families”.
(i
On adultery, government lawyers argued it should remain a crime as it threatens the institution of marriage, and caused harm to children and families.
But in its ruling, the court said extramarital affairs — while still a valid ground for divorce — were a private matter between adults.
In 1954, the court upheld adultery as a crime arguing “it is commonly accepted that it is the man who is the seducer and not the woman”.
But in their ruling on Thursday, the judges said this narrative no longer applied, noting also that Britain did away with its own laws penalising adultery long ago.
“Man being the seducer and women being the victim no longer exits. Equality is the governing principle of a system. Husband is not the master of the wife,” the verdict added.

OSUN DECIDES 2018 Osun rerun: NBA observers arrested at Orolu

Three members of the Nigerian Bar Association Observer group have been arrested by policemen at Ifon on their way to monitor the rerun election in some of the polling units in Orolu Local Government Area.
One of the lawyers , Mrs Abibat Oriekun, told our correspondent that policemen stopped the car she and her colleagues were travelling in and arrested them even after they showed police their INEC accreditation pass.
Oriekun, who said she had spent 23 years at the bar said the policemen shouted at them .
She said they met one commissioner of police, Ali Janga, who she claimed asked them to be taken to the INEC office .
Oriekun said , ” Luckily , we saw Festus Okoye , who came to collect materials and he identified us as observers and we were released. ”

Osun election: Adeleke cries out, reveals what is happening in state right now

The Governorship candidate under the flagship of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has described the ongoing rerun election in seven units in the state as a ‘coup.‘
Adeleke, who spoke with Punch on Thursday said that supporters of the PDP were being denied access to ballot papers in the governorship rerun election.
“What is happening in Osun State now is not an election. What we have is a coup. That is what we are witnessing now.
“Our supporters are being harassed and are not allowed to vote at all. Let the whole world know that this is not democracy, ” he said.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that Ademola Adeleke of the PDP led the race in last Saturday’s election with 254,698 votes, 353 votes more than Oyetola.
The margin was, however, less than the 3,498 votes in the polling units where votes were cancelled.
Consequently, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joseph Afuape,
declared the poll inconclusive.

HEALTH IS WEALTH: 10 Deadly Everyday Habits Which Damage Your Kidneys Beyond Repair

In the body system, there are some particular organs that are to be treated with much care. Our kidneys are two of the most important organs in our bodies, which is why our priority should be maintaining their perfect healthy and function.

These two organs helps perform crucial tasks for our body, such as filter our blood, eliminate toxins, produce hormones, absorb minerals, produce urine, neutralize acid and so much more. It is easy to say that they play essential roles in our body’s biggest functions, and if they aren’t taken well care of, they will suffer some serious health conditions.
Believe it or not, simple everyday habits we do without thinking can be deadly and cause damage to our kidneys that years of therapy and healing won’t be able to fix, which is why we decided to make a list of those habits, and help you stop them right now!

1. Not Drinking Enough Water

The first and most common mistake almost everyone makes sometimes is not drinking enough water. Since most of our body is made up of water, we must drink at least 8 glasses of it on a daily basis so our kidneys can properly filter blood, eliminate toxins and waste from our bodies.

2. Too Much Salt

Consuming too much salt from your diet can cause high blood pressure and put lots of stress on the kidneys. While salt is an important mineral for our overall health, consuming it in excessive dosage can cause serious problems.

3. Holding It In

Resisting the urge to urinate because you might be occupied or busy at the moment is a mistake many people make. This pressure gets placed directly on the kidneys and in most cases, leads to kidney stones, kidney failure, kidney disease or incontinence.

4. Too Much Sugar

Just like salt, consuming too much sugar will also put its fair share of strain and pressure on the kidneys. According to research, people who consumed 2 or more sugary drinks per day end up having protein in their urine, which means the kidneys aren’t working like they should be.

5. Mineral and Vitamin Deficiencies

Consuming a diet poor in essential vitamins and mineral can lead to a whole list of health conditions, such as kidney stones and kidney disease. Therefore, add more fruits, vegetables, and homemade meals to your diet.

6. Excessive Amounts of Animal Protein

A diet rich in meats, especially red meat, can cause buildup of lots of processed protein in the body, which as a result can increase the metabolic load on the kidneys. This can cause your kidneys to overwork, and such consistent stress can lead to kidney damage and dysfunction.

7. Lack of Sleep

As we all know, sleep is one of the most important things we do in order to heal and recharge our body and mind. Sleep deficiency on the other hand damages the bones, causes stress and kidney problems.

8. Caffeine Consumption

When it comes to caffeine, the effects are similar to the ones caused by salt. It can raise blood pressure, place a lot of stress on the kidneys, and cause damage over time.

9. Intake of Painkillers

When most people experience any type of pain, they immediately turn for the painkillers as a temporary solution. However, these painkillers have effects on the body which can be lethal. They cause extra tension on the kidneys and cause lots of damage. Therefore, turn to natural remedies for help.

10. Alcohol Abuse

While a glass of wine or a drink every now and then isn’t so harmful, drinking alcohol commonly can cause a lot of harm to the body, especially on the kidneys. It overworks them big time and usually leads to kidney damage and disease later on.

Buhari claims victory in war against corruption

President Muhammadu Buhari says the Federal Government was committed to winning the war against corruption in Nigeria.

Buhari said this in New York at the African Union High-Level Dialogue with the theme: “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation.’’

Buhari commended African leaders for the honour bestowed on him to champion the course of fighting corruption in Africa in 2018 and beyond.

The president, however, urged African leaders to also remain committed to the fight against corruption to ensure rapid development of the continent.
According to Buhari, Africa loses about 50 billion dollars to illicit financial flow annually.

“Illicit financial flow out of the continent has become a major concern because of the scale of its negative effects on economic development and governance agenda.

“Some of the effects of corruption include draining of foreign exchange reserves, reduction of tax revenue collection, poor investment inflow and escalation of poverty,” he said.

He said that efforts were being made by African leaders to checkmate the illicit financial flow from the continent
Buhari said that one of the measures necessary if Africa was to make headway in the fight against corruption, was to evolve laws and policies which encourage transparent financial transactions.

He said that another measure was to ensure implementation of measures that would mitigate the incentive that facilitate the illegal outflow of funds from the continent.

Osun rerun: Why I signed alliance with APC for Thursday rerun -Omisore

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has explained why he decided to form an alliance with the All Progressives Congress,APC ahead of Thursday Osun State rerun election.
Omisore who had been visited by PDP and APC leaders for an alliance on Wednesday finally announced his decision to join APC.

On why he signed alliance with APC, Omisore in a letter he personally signed on Wednesday, titled: ‘Formation of Coalition Government and Rerun of Governorship Election on Thursday 27th September, 2018, on Osun State,” said his decision to form an alliance with the APC was because of its readiness to adopt and implement SDP’s programme.

The letter reads, “Our decision to form a coalition government is based on a party that is ready to work with SDP to adopt and implement the core values of our party which is social justice, equity and good governance.

“The PDP and APC parties have approached us for coalition based on our performance and grassroots network, especially in the seven units earmarked for rerun.

“Our core values and philosophies as indicated in our SDP manifestos, ‘Restoration Agenda,’ have all been presented to the APC and PDP representatives who have approached us for support and formation of a coalition government.

“The core party’s programmes include:
“Professionalism and Performance in the Public Sector,” which by interpretation, “Workers must be motivated and trained; Payment of the accumulated salaries; Pensions and arrears within the first three months of the administration; to be followed by payment of full salary to all categories of workers.

“Revamping of Education Sector; Equity in Access to Services across Osun State; Local Content and Innovation in the Investment and Development of the state; Focus on robust and Effective security of all and sundry.

“Restoration and uplifting the condition of service Obas and Chiefs in the state.

“For the ‘Restoration Agenda’ to be effectively implemented, SDP, Osun State would ensure that her core values are considered and incorporated into the development agenda of a party of choice for a meaningful coalition.

“In this regard, we have forwarded our proposals for coalition government to the PDP representatives headed by the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and the APC high-powered delegation by Dr Kayode Fayemi, the newly elected governor of Ekiti State.

” The APC had since come back to accept all the conditions proposed to them by us to form a coalition government, while the PDP party is yet to respond.

“We have therefore as a party, SDP, accepted to support the APC for victory in the rerun election tomorrow and therefore form a coalition government.”

Osun decides: Omisore tells his supporters who to vote during rerun

Ahead of the Thursday’s governorship rerun, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the Osun State governorship election, Iyiola Omisore on Wednesday told his supporters to vote any political party that believes in what the SDP stands for.
DAILY POST reported that Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led the race on Saturday with 254,698 votes, 353 votes more than Oyetola.
The margin was, however, less than the 3,498 votes in the polling units where voting was cancelled.
Consequently, the Returning Officer for the election, Professor Joseph Afuape, declared the poll inconclusive.
Since INEC declared the saturday governorship election inconclusive, top members of the APC and PDP have been having series of meeting, seeking for Omisore’s support.
However, Omisore in a statement on Wednesday by his media aide, Jide Fakorede, said he would “not negotiate for personal gains and abandon my people.
The statement reads, “After over 72 hours of pressure on him by both the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has said that what is paramount to him is the practice of true democracy in Osun State,”
“Omisore firmly states that he will never renege on his promise of good governance, accountability and human dignity in Osun state.
“Osun state has always been a stellar example of democracy where the people have consistently and freely expressed their franchise to determine who governs them.
“This should remain so. Osun people have shown that it is not business as usual. It is a positive deviation from what was hitherto the norm.
“I am telling my people that they should go with any political party that believes in what we in the SDP stand for: good governance, social justice and accountability. I have already detailed how we planned to restore Osun to the path of good governance through the five thematic pillars in the manifesto I shared during the electioneering. I will not negotiate for personal gains and abandon my people.
“My alliance is with the people of Osun state irrespective of the political party they belong. I want my people to be treated with the dignity they deserve. I desire that they have a government that will be accountable to them. I want them to experience the good governance the founding fathers of this state envisaged. I have told the parties that have solicited for my support to approach the electorates and ask for their mandate as I have assured them that I will not coerce them for political or social power. It is because I have kept my promise that has made me enjoyed their unalloyed support all these years.
“As highlighted in SDP manifestos, the five thematic pillars the SDP had hoped to implement to improve governance, eliminate financial reckless and reposition the economy of Osun state include: economic management and accountability; professionalism and performance; equity in access to service; local content and innovation and security.”
“It is the right and democratic freedom of people to choose of their own free will. Their votes should not be coerced by money, vote buying, intimidation in form of militarisation, and political and social power,” he added.
“Their voices of demand for good governance, accountability and human dignity should continue to be heard as well as salaries paid. All these are what I stand for and which the SDP had promised the people all through our electioneering campaigns. They are still paramount to me as we collectively chart the way forward for the governorship elections rerun in Osun state.”

New minimum wage: NLC insists on strike as meeting with FG ends in deadlock

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has insisted on its planned strike, as the
meeting with the Federal Government has ended in a deadlock.
The meeting was sequel to the declaration by the union to commence an indefinite strike starting from Wednesday midnight.
NLC President had on Wednesday, directed all labour unions and civil society groups, to embark on an indefinite nationwide strike, after the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum issued on September 12.
According to the NLC, the decision to embark on the strike action followed the refusal of the Federal Government to reconvene the Tripartite Committee on a new National Minimum Wage.
NLC is demanding an upward review of the current N18,000 minimum wage to N56,000.

Osun rerun: Adeleke writes EU, US, cries out over threat to his life

The undeclared winner of last Saturday’s Osun governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has written to diplomatic missions in Nigeria, raising alarm over threats to his life and a clampdown on his supporters, ahead of Thursday supplementary polls.

In the letter already depatched to diplomatic missions and made available to DAILY POST, Adeleke catalogued the many infractions in the last Saturday polls.

They included the refusal of INEC to declare him the winner in line with the constitution, the killing and maiming of his supporters, the arrest of key leaders on trumped up charges and the manipulations of the electoral process.

“I am constrained to write this letter to intimate you, our diplomatic partners and friends of despotic happenings in Osun governorship polls which I won but for which I was not declared the winner. My life is under threat and leaders of my party are under siege before and after Saturday main polls.

“During the campaigns, we were subjected to countless attacks. I escaped about four assassination attempts. Our campaign vehicles were severallly attacked and our rallies disrupted. We went through the pre-election process under constant onslaught from political thugs and merchants of violence.

“Despite the violence prone climate, I still won the election. On live television, our votes were removed and protestations for re-addition of the votes were rejected. Votes for the ruling party were jerked up and again the electoral umpire refused to correct the arithmetical errors. After all the manipulations which saw about 4000 votes removed from my total votes, I still won by close to 400 votes.

“In a brazen assault on democracy, the returning officer in open breach of the constitution refused to declare me the winner even after fulfilling constitutional stipulations. The officer erroneously justified declaration of the election as inconclusive based on violence in seven out of about 3000 voting units across the state. It was a travesty of justice that is under challenge in court of law.

“Not satisfied with that rape of democracy, the ruling, APC immediately launched a coordinated manipulation agenda to rig the Thursday supplementary polls. Voters register of affected areas are been doctored; unclaimed voters cards are been shared out; massive vote buying are ongoing;and my supporters are been hounded. Democracy is clearly under threats.

“The agenda of the ruling party is to ensure that votes do not count. The target is to thwart the will of the people. The APC is out to subvert the will of the people ,an action that will have deeply negative impact on the sanctity of the electoral process ahead of 2019 polls,” Adeleke said in the letter.

He then called on the international community “to prevail on President Muhammad Buhari to allow votes to count by restoring my mandate”, adding “We count on you to mount pressure on the ruling party to restore people’s mandate in Osun state.

“We make this request because Osun state is the cradle of Yoruba people. Denying them their inalienable right to pick their governor is a potent threat to democratic sustainability in Nigeria. Our nascent democracy has been under intense pressure and it is not in our collective interest to deepen the national stress index.
“We seek your intervention to prevent another rigging underway in Osun state. I am the holder of the sacred mandate of Osun people. We need the international community to assist Nigeria to make votes count,” he said.
The letter was sent to European Union, United States and several diplomatic missions in Nigeria and the United Nations.

Buhari under fire for withdrawing Paris Club refund from Benue

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in Benue State, yesterday expressed shock over the alleged withdrawal of the final tranche of the Paris Club refund earlier paid to the state government.
Governor Samuel Ortom had last Thursday confirmed the receipt of N 14.9bn Paris Club refund.

Also on Monday, the governor directed the state Ministry of Finance to commence the payment of workers’ salary arrears and allowances to pensioners.
But in a new twist, the federal government allegedly recalled the Paris Club refund for yet-to-be disclosed reason.

In a chat with the media yesterday in Makurdi, the state Chairman of the NLC, Godwin Anya, said; “I don’t know the reason for the recall of the Paris Club loan refund.

“Everybody has been expecting to be paid because the governor on Monday directed the payment of salary arrears.

“I don’t know the reason for that nonsense; I don’t know where this country is heading to.”

Meanwhile, the convener of the Middle Belt Movement for Justice and Peace, Joe Bukka, yesterday, also described the decision of the Federal Government to recall the Paris Club refunds paid to Benue and four other states as “the height of impunity, executive recklessness and a witch – hunt against ordinary Nigerians.”

Speaking also in Makurdi, Bukka insisted that the Federal Government had embarked on a systematic witch-hunt of some state governments probably for political reasons at the detriment of the ordinary Nigerian and civil servants.

He said: “In the first place, it is not the responsibility of the Federal Government to monitor how states disburse and utilise their funds. Moreover, the Paris Club refund was only warehoused by the Federal Government on behalf of the states; it is not a gratification or loan.

“So, the Federal Government lacks the powers to recall the money, which belongs to the state from the onset. As far as we are concerned, this is the height of impunity, executive recklessness and a witch – hunt against the ordinary Nigerians who were expecting to get the backlog of their salaries from the fund.

“We just wonder if this Federal Government has the interest of the ordinary people at heart. Just take for instance a state like Benue that has over time been contending with socio-economic and security challenges as a result of the lingering herdsmen killings, and you want to treacherously sit on their legitimate funds.

“No doubt, this directive will cause collateral damage to the socio- economic life of the government and people of the affected states. Hence, it should be reversed without further delay because even if the states fail to transparently appropriate the funds, they would have the people to contend with.

“The Federal Government must realise that this move will deepen the animosity of the people of the states like Benue towards the APC-led Federal Government because they will be hurt the more and obviously unhappy.”

Former WBC welterweight champ Victor Ortiz charged with rape

Former welterweight boxing champion Victor Ortiz-- who was scheduled to fight this weekend-- was charged Monday for allegedly raping a woman earlier this year,The Ventura County Star reported .

Authorities issued a warrant for Ortiz’s arrest on Monday following a months-long investigation. In late March, a woman contacted the Oxnard Police Department alleging that Ortiz had sexually assaulted her, according to Ventura County Superior Court records.
Oxnard is about an hours’ drive north of Los Angeles.
Police said Ortiz, who lives in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Tarzana, turned himself in to Ventura County Sheriffs on Tuesday afternoon.
Ortiz has acted in movies including "The Expendables 3" and TV shows including "Ray Donovan." He competed on "Dancing with the Stars" in 2013.
Ortiz faces charges of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation and forcible digital penetration when he appears in court on Oct. 10.
The Ventura County Sheriff's website shows that Ortiz posted $100,000 bail and was released. It could not immediately be determined whether he has an attorney.
The 31-year-old held the WBC welterweight belt in 2011 before losing it to Floyd Mayweather Jr. He has a 32-6-3 record with 25 knockouts and is scheduled to face John Molina on Saturday in a 10-round bout in Ontario, California.

Grassley says he 'is not going to silence' Ford, vows key Kavanaugh hearing will proceed before possible vote

Tension builds ahead of high-stakes Kavanaugh hearing
Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his accuser Dr. Christine Blasey Ford are scheduled to testify under oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday; chief congressional correspondent Mike Emanuel reports from Capitol Hill.

Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, on Tuesday rejected the requests from Democrats to delay a key hearing on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused the federal judge of sexual assault during a party when they were in high school, are due to testify before the committee on Thursday. Kavanaugh has denied Ford's allegations.
In a letter to ranking member Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Grassley wrote: "I am not going to silence Dr. Ford after I promised and assured her that I would provide her a safe, comfortable, and dignified opportunity to testify ... There is no reason to delay the hearing any further."
Grassley added that any further delay would be unfair to both Ford and Kavanaugh, whom Grassley said "has asked the Committee repeatedly for the chance to testify as soon as possible ... We can no longer stand in the way of him presenting his testimony before the Committee."
Feinstein had asked for the hearing to be delayed after the New Yorker magazine published claims by Deborah Ramirez, a Yale classmate of Kavanaugh who says he exposed himself to her while drunk at a college party in the 1980s. Kavanaugh has denied that allegation as well.
Feinstein also asked that the committee refer Ramirez's allegations to the FBI along with Ford's claims.
Also Tuesday, the committee announced that it had tentatively rescheduled a vote on Kavanaugh's nomination for Friday morning. Grassley took to Twitter to add that the hearing was added to the committee's schedule as required by it rules.
"After [hearing] Dr Ford & Judge Kavanaugh’s testimony- if we‘re ready to vote, we will vote," he tweeted. "If we aren't ready, we won't."
In a statement, Feinstein said the committee's action in scheduling a vote was "outrageous."

"First Republicans demanded Dr. Blasey Ford testify immediately. Now Republicans don’t even need to hear her before they move ahead with a vote," she said. "It's clear to me that Republicans don’t want this to be a fair process."
In response, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., told Fox News' "The Story" that Grassley had "bent over backwards to be fair" to both Ford and Kavanaugh.
"Dr. Ford is being abused as much as anybody else," Graham told Martha MacCallum. "She’s been a victim of this as much as Kavanaugh has."
Graham added that Kavanaugh "is not Bill Cosby. He is not [Harvey] Weinstein. He's lived a good life. This is an allegation 35 years old that’s unverified and I’m not going to ruin his life based on that. Show me something credible, they’ve yet to do it."
Fox News has been told Grassley and Feinstein are expected to give opening statements to kick off Thursday's hearing, followed by Christine Blasey Ford, who would speak with no time limit.
That would be followed by a round of five-minute questioning periods for each senator, who could turn over questioning to other counsel. The process would repeat for Kavanaugh.
Fox News has learned that Judiciary Committee staffers interviewed Kavanaugh by phone about the Ramirez allegations on Tuesday. A source familiar with the call told Fox News that Republican staffers led the interview, while Democratic aides listened without asking any questions. Another source told Fox News that Democratic staffers were told about the call with Kavanaugh 15 minutes before it took place, giving them no time to prepare.
The allegations by Ford, who went public with her claims Sept. 16, have caused cracks in what initially appeared to be a smooth path to confirmation for Kavanaugh. Multiple Republican senators have told Fox News that they want to hear Ford's testimony before deciding which way to vote on Kavanaugh's nomination.
Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, a key undecided Republican, told reporters she will be "glued to the television" during Thursday's hearing.
However, GOP lawmakers sounded more bullish about Kavanaugh's chances on Tuesday, with some discussing keeping the Senate in session this weekend so that they can begin the process of confirming Kavanaugh right away.
"I go into the hearings with very positive feelings about him, and I hope Thursday goes well," Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., told reporters.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., accused Democrats Monday of mistreating Kavanaugh using "vague, unsubstantiated and uncorroborated allegations of 30-plus-year-old misconduct" that were "nowhere near grounds to nullify someone's career or destroy their good name."
Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., retorted that McConnell owed Ford an apology for asserting that the Democrats' use of the women's accusations was a smear campaign. Schumer said McConnell's comment "demeans many, many women."
A successful committee vote is not necessary to advance Kavanaugh's nomination to the full Senate. Current Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas received no recommendation from the Judiciary Committee in 1991, but was still confirmed by the Senate. Conversely, Robert Bork received an unfavorable recognition from the committee in 1987, though his nomination was rejected by the full Senate.

“So, let us work together. Let us work for the unity of the party, by the grace of God, we will have PDP in government in 2019 in Oyo state and Nigeria. You will have PDP as your governor in 2019”.

In a press statement signed by the NLC General Secretary, Peter Ozo-Eson, the congress resolved that the strike commences in the midnight of Wednesday.
“Representatives of organized labour, after due consultation and meetings, have therefore agreed that all unions and our Civil society allies should embark on a warning strike from midnight of Wednesday, 26th September, 2018.

Messi has won nine La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns among numerous other trophies at Barca, while he is a five-time winner of the Ballon d’Or.

The margin was, however, less than the 3,498 votes in the polling units where voting were cancelled.

2019: Why it will be unfortunate for Nigerians to vote Buhari again – Tambuwal

The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has said that Nigeria no longer needs a President like Muhammadu Buhari.
Tambuwal, who is one of the 13 presidential aspirants under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, described President Buhari as an analogue leader who lacks the required capacity to rule 21st century Nigeria.
The Governor noted that it would be unfortunate for the country to vote Buhari for a second term.
Governor Tambuwal said this in Akure, the Ondo State capital, when he met some delegates of the PDP ahead of the October presidential primary of the party.
He said, “He (Buhari) is not digitally compliant to run a complex country like Nigeria with ethnic and cultural diversities and Nigerians cannot afford to cope with an analogue President like Buhari.
“It is obvious that this government is analogue and in this 21st century, we need a government that is being headed by somebody that understands issues of today, 21st century.”
Tambuwal alleged further that the South-West and other southern regions of the country were being marginalised by the Buhari administration, noting that the development had led to distrust among the ethnic nationalities in the country.
“I know what Nigerians need. I have the experience to run a complex country like Nigeria. I will use my good offices to distribute appointments and projects to all sections of the country.
“I will liaise with the National Assembly to reach the grass roots; I will use the identified needs of the people to prepare the budget.
“You do not sit in your office and assume what the people need,” the presidential aspirant stated.

Buhari’s minister, Shittu says he couldn’t afford N22.5m for APC forms, speaks on NYSC controversy

The Minister of Communications, Barrister Adebayo Shittu on Saturday declared that contrary to insinuation that he was rich as a Minister under President Muhammadu Buhari, he could not afford to pay the N22.5m All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial forms.
Shittu, who insisted that there was no way he could afford to pay the gubernatorial nomination and expression of interest forms of the ruling APC pegged at N22.5m, added that he could not purchase the forms until those who believed in him came to his aid to buy the forms.
The APC chieftain, who is a gubernatorial aspirant under APC in Oyo state, made these revelations while speaking with journalists in Ibadan, the state capital, on Saturday.

Shittu, while responding to a question on the exorbitant fees charged by the party, said he was a poor man and there was no way he could pay such a ‘huge money’.
Shittu who purchased the forms through two of his aides, Saheed Oladele, Head of Adebayo Shittu Strategy Committee and Malik Aderogba, Head of Special Tasks for Adebayo Shittu’s Campaign Organization penultimate Monday said that he can’t have such money to buy the forms.
He said, “It is inconceivable that I can have such money to buy the nomination form.
“Those very close to me knew this fact. That I cannot on my own put down N22.5million. As a minister under President Muhammadu Buhari, there was no way I could pay such money. This is not a PDP government and you cant have money like those under the PDP. I earn less than a million naira a month and there are people who depend on me for survival”.
The minister insisted that it was those people who believed in him that bought the forms for him.
He added, “It was those who believe that the best thing to happen to Oyo State is for Adebayo Shittu to become Governor that paid for the form. I thank God for the opportunities I have had in life and the greatest being the Minister.”
Shittu, while speaking on the next Saturday’s gubernatorial primary election in the state, declared that all registered members of the APC in the state would vote.
He insisted on the direct primary option and appealed to all the party members to prepare head on for it on Saturday.
He added that, “I never pretended I did service. For me, and undoubtedly too, serving in the Oyo State House of Assembly at the time was on a higher service to my fatherland. And the matter was taken to the court and it was thrown out. Late Chief Bola Ige was my counsel then.”

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the claims in a series of tweets on Saturday.

“My attention has also been drawn to attempts to disenfranchise voters in @OfficialPDPNig strongholds by distributing malfunctioning card readers between 8am-12pm.They also seek to deploy intimidation tactics to scare voters, hijack boxes and indulge in massive vote buying between 12-4pm.,” he tweeted.
“We are totally at a loss as to why @OfficialAPCNg Governors will leave their respective states to invade Osun state on the eve of Election Day.
“The plot is to rig the elections in favour of the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, who is apparently very unpopular in the state.

“Breaking!@OfficialAPCNg agents are currently sharing money at ward 8, unit 3 Ota Efun in Olorunda local government.
“They are sharing N20,000 each to voters. #OsunDecides2018 #OsunDecides @PoliceNG take note urgently @inecnigeria.
